Mumbai: Passengers aboard an IndiGo Airlines flight from Delhi to Mumbai on Wednesday had a harrowing experience as the aircraft narrowly avoided landing. The pilot abruptly aborted the descent just seconds before touchdown, after which the plane safely landed in a second attempt. The flight, numbered 6E6107, departed from Delhi at 9 a.m. and was granted clearance for landing by the Air Traffic Control (ATC) at Mumbai airport.
Recounting the incident, an anonymous passenger shared, "We had a near death experience … our plane started to land at Mumbai, was almost about to touch the tarmac when it suddenly turned nose up and took off again. Climbed back up, then came back for a second (thankfully safe) landing. Very scary."
Mumbai Airport Runway Closure: Vistara Alerts Passengers
Vistara Airlines has notified passengers about potential disruptions in flight schedules between 11 am and 5 pm on Thursday, May 9, due to the closure of runways at Mumbai airport. The closure is a result of ongoing maintenance and repair work before the monsoon season. Customers are advised to adjust their travel plans accordingly, as both departures and arrivals are expected to be affected during this period.
The primary runway 09/27 and the secondary runway 14/32 are temporarily out of operation. This maintenance work includes inspecting the runway surface for any wear and tear. Airlines and stakeholders were previously alerted in December through a Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) to make necessary arrangements for rescheduling flights. This update follows Air India Express, a low-cost carrier owned by the Tata Group, cancelling over 70 flights on May 8.
