Sean Morgan’s recent editorial I found quite harsh. He finds the people feeding the homeless enablers. Of those that do from my church believe strongly in Matthew 25, enabling basic human needs so people can help develop into being more human more easily is a reasonable goal.
It is true the mental health system in this county is not easy to negotiate. Many homeless need better health care, physical and mental. Butteco.net/mentalhealth has references that are helpful, but many places are out of the county.
Something the city and county could do help is support the local college and ROP programs for more caregivers and to support places like Shalom clinic.
Sean would seem to advocate for the mental health system like we had when state hospitals like Napa existed, before Mr. Reagan closed them. A time when nursing homes were also much rougher places to live, not the America I want to make see again.
I would like to ask Sean to be enable help, not sweep what he seems to call dirt, under the rug. And how about more affordable housing why you are at it too like by the Marsh School project and less like the Valley Oaks project planned down the block.
