Ex-Navy Seal involved in killing Osama bin Laden banned by Delta for not wearing mask

A former Navy SEAL, who says he killed Osama bin Laden during the 2011 raid, has been banned by Delta Airlines after posting a maskless selfie while on a flight.

O’Neill posted a since-deleted photo on Twitter of himself not wearing a mask Wednesday, captioning the picture: “I’m not a p—,” according to Forbes.

He also criticized “dumb a—” masks and said the pandemic was “sent to you by China,” which were later deleted, the publication reported. O’Neill tweeted on Thursday that he was banned by Delta.

“Thank God it wasn’t @Delta flying us in when we killed Bin Laden … we weren’t wearing masks…,” O’Neill tweeted, calling the photo a “joke” in response to criticism from actress Alyssa Milano.

A Delta spokesperson confirmed O’Neill’s ban.

“Part of every customer’s commitment prior to traveling on Delta is the requirement to acknowledge our updated travel policies, which includes wearing a mask,” spokesperson Anthony Black told Business Insider. “Failure to comply with our mask-wearing mandate can result in losing the ability to fly Delta in the future.”

Delta requires all passengers and employees to wear face coverings both while at airport boarding areas and on flights. Those claiming a medical exemption are required to consult a third-party medical professional before flying.

“Any false claims of a disability or health condition to obtain an exemption from wearing a mask or face covering may result in the suspension of travel privileges on any Delta flight for the duration of the mask/face covering requirement,” Delta wrote.

More than 100 people had been added to the no-fly list for refusing to wear masks as of July 22, Delta CEO Ed Bastian told NBC.

“We’ve been steadily and rather aggressively stepping up our enforcement of the mask policy. You cannot board a Delta plane unless you have a mask on. If you board the plane and you insist on not wearing your mask, we will insist that you don’t fly Delta into the future. We already have over 100 people we’ve put on that list,” Bastian said.
