Pleasant Hill Police Department to add K-9 named Boy to force
The Pleasant Hill Police Department will soon be adding a K-9 named Boy to the force, according to a news release. Boy will begin training with his handler, Officer Jason Burke, who has been a member of the department since October 2010, on July 24. Burke was chosen for the position because of his “hard work, devotion to this community and his law enforcement skills,” Police Chief Al Pizzano said in a statement. “We are excited to get this team on the streets of Pleasant Hill to serve our residents.” Boy is a Belgian Malinois that is energetic, smart, yet very well-reserved, Pizzano said. The K-9 was named Boy by Canine Tactical of Iowa, the kennel that trains these types of animals. Canine Tactical of Iowa is owned by Joshua Morton, a retired U.S. Navy SEAL from Chariton. Members of the police department said they look forward to having Boy as a member of the team.
