Conspiracy theorists the Flat Earthers society has said the Earth being globe shaped is a lie and that the world is in fact flat.

Flintoff, appearing on BBC Radio 5 live, confessed he has become addicted to their podcasts, and that they present a very convincing argument.

While he did say he wasn’t sure if the world was flat, he believes it is more of a “turnip” shape.

FLAT CHANCE: Freddie Flintoff has backed flat Earth theories

He said: “There’s evidence to suggest that the world isn’t round.

“The pictures which you see, the horizon always appears flat apart from NASA pictures, which some say could be doctored, they could be doctored.”

Fred then went on to give examples of theories promoting the flat earth conspiracy.

He asked why does water stay still when going through space, and why does the Earth not come round to you if you’re in a helicopter.

He added: “I am not coming out now and saying that the world is flat, but it could be.

“You’ve got the Earth, it’s bulbous, like a disc, it’s not completely flat underneath.

ON THE LINE: Flintoff is willing to put £1,000 on it

“In the middle of it is the North Pole, on the outside is the South Pole, and that is like a big wall of ice.

“This is why all governments have got bases on the South Pole, you can’t turn up to the South Pole as a punter.”

The former England captain also claimed he would stake £1,000 on the Earth being flat, if given odds of 5-1.
